When I used to eat oatmeal, it was full of brown sugar and maple syrup and it was mostly instant and from a packet.

I wish I knew how to make oatmeal like this back when I was breastfeeding!

Now, I make it with tons of fresh fruit, nuts and other yumminess and I don’t even miss that sugary sweet instant nonsense from before!

I found this recipe on Pinterest, but it was for overnight oats and I’m not really a fan of cold oatmeal, so I improvised and made it hot.

I follow the directions for my oats on the box, which is usually:

1/2 cup rolled oats

1 cup water

Once cooked, I add:

1 tsp cocoa powder

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp pure maple syrup

1/2 tsp shredded coconut

To serve, I top with:

And additional 1/2 tsp shredded coconut

1 tsp sliced almonds and

a handful of blueberries

That’s it!
