This week in Emma’s school work for HIPPY, she had to work on her balance.
Which meant I had to make bean bags (one for her head and one for each hand).
At which point I asked her teacher, “Do you know where I can just buy these since I’m pretty sure I can’t make my own bean bags?”
She assured me I could and told me I could use my hot glue gun. SOLD.
When I was growing up, kids who were homeschooled were always labeled as “weird” or un-socialized.
I think the mentality of that has changed so much since then. There are so many more families choosing to homeschool their children. And there are so many more resources available. I even have a Pinterest board for Homeschool Preschool now!
When I first started thinking about homeschooling, I had no idea where to start or what to do.
I had a friend of mine who told me about HIPPY. It stands for Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) and it’s a state-funded program (free for parents!).
Every week, we have a HIPPY coordinator come to our house and give us a “packet” to complete with Literacy, Math, Motor Skills and more.
